 Mrs. Edna Jones Garrett, 96, widow of Jimmie Garrett, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, in a Kingstree nursing home after an illness. Mrs. Garrett was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Shawmut, Alabama, a daughter of the late James Monroe Jones and Alma Elizabeth Raughton Jones. She attended school in Alabama and during W.W. II she worked in the Savannah, GA shipyard. After moving to Charleston, she and her husband owned and operated Garrett Carpet Co. in Charleston for many years. She was preceded in death by a son, James Carl Garrett and his wife Della, a daughter, Mary Joan Lindenmuth and her husband Lindy, and a son-in-law, R.D. Cantley. Surviving Mrs. Garrett are her children, Jack O. (Brenda) Garrett of Charleston, Nancy Sue (Walter) Loy of Jay, Oklahoma, Anne G. Cantley of Kingstree, and Eileen (Larry) Sadowski of Chester, VA., 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2012, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will be at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday in Live Oak Memorial Gardens mausoleum in Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Kingstree. Memorials may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N.
