Lavonne Hill “Sonny” Floyd, 73. died Sunday, December 18, 2011, in Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown after an illness.
Mr. Floyd was born August 22, 1938, in Florence County, a son of the late Raymond E. and Loree Hill Floyd. He was retired from Baxter Labs as a maintenance supervisor and had served in the SC National Guard. He was an avid gardener and loved to fish. Mr. Floyd was a member of Broad Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Jo Ann F. Floyd, of Kingstree; his son, Todd L. (Lynn) Floyd, of Kingstree; his grandson, Kyle L. Floyd, of Kingstree; his sister, Shelby (Hermas) McCutcheon, of Scranton; his brothers, Dexter (Dorothy) Floyd, of Kinston, NC, and Earl (Johnnie Lynn) Floyd, of Kingstree; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Mims.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in Broad Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by Rev. Greg Thompson and Rev. Randall Strickland. Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
