  Mary Powell McKenzie

     Mrs. Mary Powell McKenzie, 82, widow of Bill McKenzie, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at her residence after an illness.

     Mrs. McKenzie was born August 7, 1929, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Hartley Leland and Mamie McKenzie Powell. She graduated from Kingstree High School and was retired from Baxter Labs. Mrs. McKenzie was a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. In addition to her husband Bill and her parents, Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by a son DeWitt McKenzie and 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

     Surviving are: her children, Richard (Toni) McKenzie, Cheryl (Gary) McClam, Darlene Ray, and Carol McKenzie, all of Kingstree and Ellis (Angela) McKenzie, of Rio Rico, AZ; 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 12, 2011, in the Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial in Smith Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, 172 Delos Road, Kingstree, SC 29556.
