 Mrs. Walton Hughes Eaddy, 88, widow of Kenneth “Buster” Eaddy, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in National Health Care, Sumter, SC. Mrs. Eaddy was born February 19, 1923, in Hemingway, a daughter of Sarvis Cortez and Patti Haselden Hughes. She was a graduate of Hemingway High School and worked with her husband at Eaddy Electric Co. and later at Kingstree Home & Auto Supply. After her retirement, she devoted her life to the rearing and caring of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Mrs. Eaddy was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Oswego and also the Sunshine Club at the church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Saundra Roff. Surviving are: her daughters, Marie (Johnny) Mills, of Sumter, Serena (Thom) Dovell, of Alabama, and Melissa (Ricky) Ridgeway, of Manning; her sons, Ken Eaddy, of Mayesville, and Chuck (Sara) Eaddy, of Alabama; her brother Steve (Sheri) Hughes, of Surfside Beach; her sister Patricia Strong, of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M Thursday, August 25 2011, in the chapel at Williamsburg Funeral Home, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 5575 Lodebar Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
